    Arcane/Fire Mage Empty Arcane/Fire Mage

Post  Keymax Thu Jul 29, 2010 2:34 am

note: I've decided to use a font bigger than the default one, because I find it easier to read. This is intended, if you prefer smaller a font then feel free to Ctrl + Minus until it suits you :)

    Name: Keymax
    Class: Mage
Both your specs (Main spec first): Arcane, Fire
    Armory link: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aszune&cn=Keymax
    WowHeroes link: http://www.wow-heroes.com/index.php?zone=eu&server=Aszune&name=Keymax
    Age: 18
    Gender: male
    Nationality/Language: Polish/English
    Occupation: Student

Any alts? (Be detailed here, your alt(s) could come in handy):
Tankeydin, a prot paladin with 5.6k gs
    Armory link: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aszune&cn=Tankeydin
    WowHeroes link: http://www.wow-heroes.com/index.php?zone=eu&server=Aszune&name=Tankeydin
I've tanked ICC10 on this character up to and including LK.

Experience- Tell us what you have achieved at level 60,70 and most importantly 80 (Note doing a 60 or 70 raid instance at 80 to get an achievement doesn't count!- Be detailed so we can see what fights you have attempted):
    Vanilla: nothing
    TBC: Karazhan and Zul'Aman
    WotLK:
    Encounter-wise:
Everything apart from the last wing of Ulduar (moved onto ToC as soon as it was introduced). I'm a 10-man Kingslayer with an in-depth knowledge of all encounters.

    Difficulty-wise:
I haven't attempted the 25-man versions of Sindragosa and LK yet. I suggest browsing my raiding experience on WowHeroes if you are interested in details, it's really well organised there. Despite not killing most of the heroic bosses, I've carefully studied tactics for all of them when I was going to raid lead a purely heroic ICC 10-man group.

Previous guilds and reasons for leaving:
Octagon - around 1 year ago, left due to lack of spots
Corpse Run - left due to some officer drama
Mist, Unison - I downed LK10 in Mist's progress team. The guild was abandoned by its leader shortly after that kill. Most of the people from Mist, including me, merged with another guild and formed Unison, which was focused on 25-man content. They killed LK25 the day I couldn't attend a raid. Similiarly to Mist, this guild has been abandoned by the guild master shortly after the kill.
Enlisted - the guild is on the edge of being disbanded due to, once again, being abandoned by the leader.

How good is your connection? (FPS, how many times do you DC in the evening etc etc):
My fps sits on 50-60. I rarely DC and if I do, it's caused by running WoW for too long. Hence, I usually restart the PC before raids.

What addons do you use to raid and if you could pick two which would be the most important to you?:
I'm an addon junkie and am using over 50 of them, so I'll spare you listing everything. If I were to choose two crucial addons, then they would be Omen and DBM. Omen's AoE equivalent I am using is called Threat Plates. I would gladly mention 20 more, but I guess that's not the point of this application.

Whats the worst moment on WoW you've had?:
There were many. In general, I dislike people who don't understand what they are doing and those who refuse to learn/improve. Inability to listen to instructions or ignoring obvious clues (what about {skull} don't you understand?) also annoy me. My approach to such individuals is based on patience and avoidance. I don't get into fights, I never insult - I ask and advise, and if it doesn't work - I either leave or kick the slacker, depending on my position (a member of a team/a leader).

Tell us how you would feel if we told you this (Answer with how willing you would be to do the things below.):
We asked you to respec: Sure, if you wish. I highly doubt this will happen though, as I have spent countless hours on elitistjerks and various mage guides/theorycrafting sites in order to maximize my performance as a dps.
We asked you to bring your alt for an encounter to benefit the raid: Gladly, I like playing my tank.
We asked you to step out of a couple of encounters to get in another player to suit the raid better: It would be unwise not to change setups in order to maximize the chance of killing a new boss. Of course I can stay out for fights or even get saved for only one boss, if it's going to help.
We asked you to use your offspec for this encounter: That's what offspecs are for!

How active are you? (When can you not raid?):
I can raid everyday, from approximately 16:00 till 3:00.

Why should we pick you over a player with the same experience and gear (Wow us, tell us that you know how to play your character)?
There are a few reasons why Defection would benefit from recruiting me. First one is the fact that I am highly communicative, I can't imagine raiding without Ventrilo/TS. My spoken english is pretty fluent, no one has complained that they can't understand me so far.

Other than that, I know my class and a few others very deeply. I enjoy doing reaserch on things I am about to do, like playing different classes or participating in new encounters. Wowhead, Wowwiki and YouTube are my best friends in this field. Understanding things is very important for me, which is why I have absorbed a lot of information concerning mage rotations and stats. I am also obsiously familiar with general dps concepts, such as ABC (always be casting), minimizing lag (precasting, an addon to cast on button push instead of release) and timing cooldowns (should I use it early to use it second time later, or should I wait for heroism? maybe I should save it to kill that one particular mob quicker?).

Even the most complicated theorycraft usually stands behind a very simple rotation, which holds true for mages. Pushing a few buttons in a correct sequence isn't very challenging, so I am always in control of the fight and can focus on the tatics. I have led multiple raids in ICC, both as a tank and a dps, and am used to doing much more than simply dpsing and not dying. I can coordinate people over Vent while fulfilling my usual tasks, can call things out (think defile/mallable goo on fester hc) or manage recovery, for example during an overpull. People tend to panic, I don't. I simply push my push-to-talk button and tell tanks/healers/dps what to do, at least as a RL/co-leader. I'm not going to disrupt your raids as a trial by squeezing in my thoughts on vent if someone else is leading.

To sum up, I'm an experienced, self-reliant raider that accepts all drawbacks of raiding (wipefests, anyone?) and always comes prepared. It's very hard to disrupt my calm, since I can remain relaxed in any situation - wipes on LK come to my mind.

One more thing that comes to my mind: I only seem to be terribly serious. In fact a sense of humour plays an important role in my life, this impenetrable cold only exists in written documents. Thanks for ploughing through this wall of text, I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

I can remember running heroics with you this time last year gearing up.
Pretty much perfect application, can't find fault with it.

    Wow.

I really like people like you who put effort into an application like this. Your past experience is what we are looking for, and to be fully honest I hate Unison and Enlisted Smile

Catch me online and we'll throw you an invite.
